Last Updated: 10 November 2025
1. Service Overview
Lantern to English provides online English tuition to students across GCC countries. Lessons are delivered online by UK-based educators and are designed to support reading, speaking, and foundational English skills in line with UK educational approaches.
Lessons are intended to supplement school learning, not replace formal schooling.
2. Subscriptions
Subscriptions renew automatically each month via Stripe until cancelled in accordance with these Terms of Service.
3. Assessments & Trial Lesson
Lantern to English offers all new students a free online assessment followed by a free trial lesson, allowing parents and students to experience the service before committing to a subscription.
Before lessons begin, students complete an online assessment to determine their current level. Parents are encouraged to be present during the assessment.
4. Payments and Cancellations
Payments are taken monthly in advance via Stripe.
A 30-day notice period is required to cancel a subscription.
Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via WhatsApp or email.
Once a new billing month has started, payments are non-refundable.
5. Missed Lessons & Rescheduling
If Lantern to English cancels a lesson, it will be rescheduled or refunded.
If a student misses a lesson due to absence, technical issues, or personal reasons, the lesson cannot be repeated or refunded.
Lesson materials for missed sessions may be shared upon request, where available.
6. Learning Requirements
Parents are responsible for ensuring that:
The student has a suitable device (computer, tablet, or phone) and a stable internet connection.
Lesson links are kept secure. If a link is lost, Lantern to English must be informed at least 24 hours in advance.
The student learns in a quiet, appropriate environment.
The student joins lessons on time and wears neat, culturally appropriate clothing.
7. Code of Conduct
Only the registered student may attend the lesson. Parents, siblings, or others must not participate or interfere during lessons.
Students are expected to behave respectfully towards educators and classmates.
Lantern to English reserves the right to remove a student from a lesson if behaviour is inappropriate.
Repeated or serious misconduct may result in removal from future lessons without refund.
While lessons are delivered online, Lantern to English will address any inappropriate behaviour or concerns promptly and professionally.
8. Privacy & Communication
Lantern to English communicates primarily via WhatsApp and email.
Parents agree to receive lesson links, updates, and reminders through these channels.
Personal data is stored securely and is not shared with third parties.
9. Agreement Acknowledgement
By completing payment through Stripe, the parent or guardian confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service.
